December 12’s heartbreaking 3-2 loss to top-seeded University of Charleston in the NCAA National Semifinal at the Sportsplex at Matthews marked the end of an era for CSU Pueblo men’s soccer. For the third consecutive year, the No. 4 seed ThunderWolves fought their way to the national semifinals, capping off a remarkable 17-4-3 season. As more than ten seniors donned the ThunderWolf jersey for the final time, their departure marks the close of not just a season, but a transformative chapter in program history.
This bittersweet ending is just one part of a fall season that continues to refine team excellence and hard work across CSU Pueblo Athletics.
A Soccer Dynasty’s Final Stand

The men’s soccer program’s journey to the Final Four became the talk of campus this fall. Their run to the National Semifinal wasn’t just about the games won – it was about the legacy of a senior class that helped establish CSU Pueblo as a national soccer powerhouse. While the program will look different next year without these veteran players, they’ve set a standard of excellence that will influence the program for years to come.
RMAC Champions
Football’s Dominant Display

While soccer captured headlines late in the season, the ThunderWolves’ football program was busy writing its own success story, claiming the RMAC Championship with authority. Their 10-2 record and top seed in Super Region Four showcased their dominance, even though their championship dreams were cut short in a razor-thin 26-23 second-round playoff game. The packed stands and thunderous atmosphere at each home game turned our stadium into one of Division II football’s most formidable venues.
Making History on the Trail

The cross country programs provided perhaps the season’s biggest surprise, shattering program records with historic performances. The women’s team soared to unprecedented heights, securing third place at the NCAA Division II National Championship and a No. 2 national ranking – the highest achievements in program history.

Not to be outdone, the men’s team broke into the nation’s top 14, establishing their own milestone.
Building for the Future

Despite the volleyball team’s season ending in the RMAC Quarterfinals, their 16-11 record and strong 9-5 conference showing demonstrated promising growth.

The women’s soccer program, under head coach John Constable’s leadership, faced challenges in their 4-10-4 campaign but showed flashes of the program’s potential.
More Than Just Wins and Losses

What makes this fall season truly remarkable isn’t just the collection of victories – it’s the transformation of campus culture. Athletic events have become must-attend occasions, with students packing venues across all sports. The pride in CSU Pueblo Athletics has become contagious, creating an electric atmosphere that extends well beyond game days.

This success stems from a perfect storm of factors: dedicated coaches pushing for excellence, student-athletes exceeding expectations, and unwavering support from administration and fans. Enhanced facilities, improved training programs, and a passionate university community have all contributed to this breakthrough season.
Looking Ahead
As we process the emotional end to men’s soccer’s season and celebrate the achievements across all fall sports, one thing is clear: CSU Pueblo Athletics is doing more than building winning teams – we’re crafting a legacy.
The standards set this fall have raised expectations for every program, and the buzz around campus suggests this is just the beginning.
Now, the spring season beckons carrying with it the impact of fall’s historic reach. Our ThunderWolves have demonstrated how with dedication, support, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.
The best part? Even with the so-close-to-victory for soccer’s season, this still feels like just the opening chapter of an even greater story.
