PUEBLO, Colo. — Amanda Stalder has been named the 2025 recipient of the Threlkeld Prize for Excellence, Colorado State University Pueblo’s most prestigious student award. The prize was awarded during the annual Student Involvement and Leadership Awards Ceremony held Wednesday, April 9, on campus.
Stalder will graduate this spring with both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in biology, with an emphasis in cellular molecular biology. A dedicated student and leader, she has served as an undergraduate and graduate researcher in the biology department, a Science Olympiad assistant, and a laboratory teaching assistant.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Stalder is actively involved in multiple organizations, including the American Physician Scientist Association, the TriBeta Biological Honor Society, where she serves as vice president, and the Medical Science Society. Her volunteer work includes serving patients in the inpatient rehabilitation and emergency departments at UCHealth, providing hospice care with Compassus, and fundraising through Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
Stalder has been accepted into the University of Kansas School of Medicine and will begin her medical studies in fall 2025.
The Threlkeld Prize for Excellence was established in 1990 to honor the memory of Budge Threlkeld, a respected faculty member and beloved member of the Pueblo community. The award recognizes a graduating student who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and service to CSU Pueblo and the broader community.
