Why we run these simulations
Phishing continues to be one of the most common ways attackers try to compromise university systems. Because of our large, collaborative community, CSU remains a frequent
target. Ongoing phishing simulations help us stay alert and reinforce everyday habits that
keep our university safe.
The Division of IT has been running these simulations for two full years, and as we enter
year three, it’s important that we all stay aware, informed, and prepared.
What you can expect
Simulation emails will continue throughout the year. They are designed to mirror the tactics attackers commonly use, so messages may vary in style, timing, and difficulty.
If someone interacts with a simulated phishing message, they will be directed to a quick
Microsoft training module. This short training reinforces skills and should be completed
within two weeks. It’s not about pointing out mistakes — it’s about helping all of us stay
confident and vigilant.

recognize phishing, including:
