Poet Michele Battiste Opens the Southern Colorado Reading Series Thursday

The CSU Pueblo Creative Writing Program kicks off the fall Southern Colorado Reading Series this Thursday, September 17, with a visit from poet Michele Battiste. The reading starts at 1 p.m. in the LINCX and is free and open to the public.
Battiste serves as the 2026-28 Poet Laureate of Lafayette, Colorado. Her latest collection, The Elsewhere Oracle, was published by Black Lawrence Press earlier this year. Her poems have appeared in American Poetry Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, The Rumpus, Memorious and Women’s Studies Quarterly, among other journals.
Refreshments will be served. Students, faculty and community members are welcome.
More Readings Ahead This Fall
Battiste’s visit opens a season of three readings hosted by the Creative Writing Program. Writer A. Rafael Johnson visits October 14 at 11 a.m., followed by CSU Pueblo lecturer Dan DeVaughn on November 12 at 1 p.m. Both events also take place in the LINCX.
