PUEBLO, Colo., July 15, 2026 — Yaneth Correa, Associate Dean of the Hasan School of Business at Colorado State University Pueblo, has been selected for the 2026 cohort of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). Correa is one of 45 mid-to-senior career higher education professionals chosen from institutions across the country for the yearlong program, which launched in late June with an in-person seminar in Washington, D.C.
The AASCU Emerging Leaders Program has supported higher education professionals for more than a decade, equipping participants with tools in strategic communication, project management, organizational change, and personal leadership development. Each cohort member completes a campus-based project under the guidance of a mentor and adviser, while building relationships across the broader AASCU network through both structured sessions and informal learning.
“I feel deeply honored, and I also feel the weight of responsibility that comes with it. We have challenging years ahead of us in higher education, and I want to be fully prepared to take them on, for our students, our school, and our community.”
Yaneth Correa, Associate Dean, Hasan School of Business, Colorado State University Pueblo
Correa’s selection reflects both her professional standing and her deep roots in the Pueblo community. Her family made Pueblo home 17 years ago, and her vision for the program is shaped by that connection. She has described her goal as helping students understand the power their education gives them to generate growth and change close to home, and as finding better ways to communicate to the broader community why the Hasan School of Business matters for regional economic development.
Correa arrived in Washington with a project concept already in mind, but three days of conversations with leaders from across the country shifted her thinking. Her original focus was on expanding the School of Business’s societal impact. After those discussions, she broadened her lens.
“I came in with a fairly fixed idea for my project, but after just three days surrounded by remarkable leaders from across the country, I realized I needed to rethink it. My original idea focused on how the School of Business could have a more effective and efficient societal impact. Now I believe that for our community to continue realizing and valuing higher education in their backyard, I need to build on the work already underway with a more holistic view of what community engagement and societal impact truly mean.”

Over the coming months, Correa plans to work closely with university administration to refine her project. She wants it to build on the Hasan School of Business’s existing contributions to CSU Pueblo while reinforcing the school’s accreditation process and its long-standing commitment to regional economic development and job creation. She also sees the project as an opportunity to deepen community involvement with the university.
The Hasan School of Business has long served as a resource center for small and family-owned businesses across the region. Correa hopes the project strengthens that relationship and gives the broader Pueblo community a clearer picture of how the school contributes to and supports local economic growth.
“This program reflects a strong commitment to developing the next generation of higher education leadership. We’re excited to support these professionals as they strengthen their capabilities, broaden their networks, and contribute to the future of their institutions and the students they serve.”
